If you’ve ever wanted to make pizza from scratch but felt intimidated by dough, this recipe is for you. It’s simple, quick, and uses basic ingredients you probably already have at home 🏡. Perfect for weeknights or last-minute pizza cravings!
Ingredients 🛒
- 240 ml warm water (lukewarm — comfortable to touch) 💧
- ½ tbsp granulated sugar
- 4 g active dry yeast
- 350 g all-purpose flour 🥣
- 1 tsp salt 🧂
Instructions 👩🍳
1. Activate the yeast ⏳
In a bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Stir well until everything dissolves and there are no lumps. Let it sit for about 5 minutes, until it becomes slightly foamy and bubbly. This means your yeast is active and ready ✨.
2. Make the dough 🥄
Add the flour and salt to the mixture. Stir until a dough starts to form. If it feels too sticky, add a little extra flour, just enough to bring it together into a soft dough ball.
3. Knead 💪
Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Knead for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic. Add small amounts of flour if needed, but don’t overdo it, the dough should stay soft.
4. Let it rest 🛌
Place the dough in a bowl, cover it, and let it rest for at least 30 minutes. If you have more time, let it rise for 1–2 hours for an even better texture.
5. Shape 🍞
Once rested, transfer the dough back to a floured surface. Divide it into two equal portions and shape them into balls. Roll or stretch each one out into your desired pizza shape on parchment paper.
6. Add toppings & bake 🔥🍕
Top your pizza however you like! For this version, I used tomato sauce 🍅, plant-based sausage/bacon 🌱, mozzarella 🧀, olives 🫒, and even cracked an egg 🥚 on top, but feel free to get creative 🎨.
Bake in a preheated oven at 220°C (430°F) for about 10–15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the toppings are cooked to your liking ⏲️.
Tips 💡
- If your yeast doesn’t bubble in step 1, it may be inactive, start again with fresh yeast❗
- Don’t overload with flour while kneading; a slightly soft dough makes a better crust.
Homemade pizza doesn’t need to be complicated, and once you try this, it might become your go-to recipe 🍕❤️
